What a sensational back 9 by Mickelson. His iron play was incredible. His tee shot to 12, perfect, followed by a sensational putt. His second shot to 13 was phenomenal. Two great shots down 15 to set up a two putt birdie, and a pure second shot into 18 to set up birdie.

Phil did everything required to win a tournament of this magnitude. He hit the clutch shots when the were required, he made the putts, apart for the eagle putt on 13. He played the back nine like a winner. None of the other contenders could get it done. Choi's bogey on 13 from the greenside bunker halted his chances of winning. Tiger's bogey on 11 and the 3 putt brain meltdown on 14 ended his hopes. Westwood played great, but can't quite seem to get it done when it counts. His short birdie miss on 15 being a prime example.

Sadly, the Masters is over for another year. It was a sensational tournament, and bring on the next three majors of 2010.

Another great day of action from Augusta. Unfortunately I was unable to watch today's coverage, but I did try and keep up with the live scoring as often as I could.

The veterans didn't fair so well today. Couples shot a 3 over par 75, to be a more than respectable 3 under par. Watson sits at the same 36 hole total after a 2 over 74. The news for Sandy Lyle was forgettable to say the least. He carded a 14 over par 86.

It's a star studded leaderboard, with names like Poulter, Westwood, Mickelson, Woods and Kim, which will lead to a spectacular weekend of golf at Augusta.

The first round of the US Masters is under way. Check out Mike's blog for his thoughts on today's action.
